Money Saving tip

* When looking for wedding rings...check out Swarovski crystals as an inexpensive alternative to diamonds. Their rings are gorgeous and start at about $90. They really Sparkle!

* When you first visit a wedding vendor just collect facts. When you're negotiating with them, use the phone so the vendor can't see your facial expressions. This way you won't give anything away.

New Ideas

Retro styled weddings remain popular this year. Think comfort foods (mac and cheese or meatloaf)also old fashioned drinks in a punch bowl.

Vintage details go everywhere from your dress, flowers and even makeup and hair from the 40s, 50s or 60s.

Q&A

Dear Cheap Chic Weddings,

Is it inappropriate for the mother of the groom to wear a dress the same color as the bridesmaids? A totally different style of course.

Thanks,

Terri

Hi Terri,

The rules for dressing the mother of the groom (MOG) are:

The mother of the groom's outfit is always dictated by the mother of the bride. She must wait to see what the mother of the bride chooses to wear first.

It is considered a faux pas to out dress her.

The mother of the bride blends and coordinates with the bridesmaids in color, length and formality. Then the mother of the groom coordinates with her.

The MOG wouldn't wear the same color as the bridesmaids or MOB--just coordinate. So, wait for her to choose and then decide on your color and formality of dress. Hope this help.

Best Regards,

LeeAnn

Love It! Hate It!

Love It!:

•Balloons….they are cheap and done creatively, they can be spectacular

•Using unusual guest books for your wedding. You could use a special quilt for your guests to sign or a guitar or anything that is meaningful for you.

•Long dressy ties on the groom

Hate It!:

•Not welcoming children as guests at a wedding. Marriage is a celebration of all members of the families. Children should be a part of all family rituals. Keep little ones happy by giving them their own special favors or toys to keep them busy.

Reviews

Anyone who is prone to cold sores and fever blisters knows that one can crop up at anytime! Possibly the worst time in your life to get one would be just before your wedding day.

We have found a great one-time application remedy to cold sores and fever blisters called Viroxyn. It provides quick relief at any stage. You can find Viroxyn at dentist’s offices or on the web at www.viroxyn.com. It really works and works fast!

Inspiration

Marriage is an Athenic weaving together of families, of two souls with their individual fates and destinies, of time and eternity--everyday life married to the timeless mysteries of the soul.
