Beach wedding reception

My nephew and his bride had a destination wedding on the beach.

A week later, the parents hosted a reception. I loaned them 30 mini hurricane lanterns that we had purchased at an discount outlet for $2.50 each.

We filled the lanterns half way with sand purchased at the local hardware store. A blue votive candle was placed on the sand. As the candles burned, it looked like blue ocean water on the sand.

Lanterns were placed on the tables, and sea shells the the couple had picked up on the beach, were scattered around them.

A lei was placed on either side of the lantern. These were purchased at the local arts and craft store.

Additional lanterns and leis were place at the sign in book, and on the buffet table.

We served lots of fruit, especially pineapple, at the buffet. Caribbean music was played as pictures of the wedding were projected on the wall.

It was casual and fun!
