To Elope Is To Save Money

The mere mention of the words elope, elopement or eloping bring to mind a rebellious, romantic act or a secretive, almost covert operation.
Well today things are a little different. People are in so many different situations that sometimes eloping makes a lot of sense. Just like everything else, there are pros and cons to eloping.

Some Pros:

  • The planning will be less agonizing and dragged out.
  • You can choose when and where without input of others.
  • It’s fast.

  • The overall bill is MUCH CHEAPER.

Some Cons:

  • You run the risk of disappointing family members and close friends.
  • This is a once in a lifetime event. You may have regrets about your choice.
  • You may have regrets about not sharing your day.
  • You may find yourself answering endless questions on your return.

Eloping can cost from about $100 and up. Location ideas can range from your city hall to an all inclusive destination wedding in the Caribbean. The most obvious choice is a Las Vegas Wedding where there is no wait time and no blood test required and you’re married in a matter of hours.

Tips on going through with it….

  • Research the requirements where you plan to elope (i.e. waiting periods, licenses, blood tests, passports, etc.
  • Line up the officiant of the ceremony.
  • Send out announcements when you get home.
  • To avoid hurt feelings, include parents, siblings and/or close friends on your trip.
  • To share your joy, have a party when you get home (you can still keep it cheap).

Remember, eloping can be right for many types of people. It is ideal for those that don’t want to spend their life savings. It can really work out nicely for those who don’t have a large family or those getting married for a second time.
