Let Me Show You Flower Girl Tips
A flower girl is usually a relative like a niece or sister, a child of a close friend or maybe yours or your husbands from a previous marriage.
Having a little one is optional but those adorable little scene-stealers add so much to the ceremony.
She is usually between the ages of 3-8. She walks down the aisle before the maid-of-honor and carries a basket full of
rose petals, sprinkling them along the way.
Sometimes the she may scatter confetti or blow bubbles, or just tote a lush ball of flowers.
When dealing with kids remember anything may happen.
Here's a few tips:
- If you can't decide which child to pick, consider having more than one flower girl. Or pair up the girl with the ring bearer. It could give them extra confidence to go down the aisle.
- Invite the little ones to the wedding shower, rehearsal dinner and any other functions. That should help make them feel more comfortable around the other attendants on the big day.
- Usually the bride picks out and pays for
flower girl dresses
(although there are no hard and fast rules about this).
- Check online for dresses.
- Kids grow fast-keep the tags on and hold onto the receipt just in case.
- Rehearsal is crucial. Go over her duties with her several times-especially when it gets really close to the wedding date.
- A very young girl should sit with her parents after her walk. Older girls may stand at the altar with the bridal party.
- Seat the girls parents toward the front of the ceremony so she'll encouraged and reassured by them.
