Have a garage sale! Or sell stuff on Craigslist

I had 2 guest rooms in my house with furniture. I had to make room for my fiance's furniture anyway, so I sold it all on Craigslist in 2 days and had $650 toward the wedding.

Then on a weekend we had a 2 day garage sale and made $1100. Before hand we asked all of our friends and relatives to donate stuff they no longer needed toward our garage sale fundraiser, knowing that all proceeds would go to the wedding.

It was a lot of work, and we had way too much stuff donated but it was worth it! All the left over stuff we donated to a charity (because we didn't want to have a 2nd garage sale) and kept the receipt for tax purposes at the end of the year.
