Some of these require work, some require guts and desire and a willingness to maybe go outside of your comfort zone. Decide what you want. Plan. Work your plan. Have your dream wedding.
Sponsored Weddings
What is a Sponsored Wedding?
A sponsored wedding is when you have different elements such as the wedding cake, dress or catering donated at no charge, in exchange for advertising. For example, the wedding venue might offer a free event or a discount in exchange for being able to put their logo on the wedding invitations and/or place cards. Wedding programs can also be used for advertising from sponsors as well as the bride and groom’s wedding website.
This is not for the weak hearted. It requires selling. It requires persistence because you may get 20 rejections before you get a yes. Some people will tell you it’s tacky. Any sponsored wedding I have seen was done very tastefully. But still some people are opposed to it. Some people will tell you it’s a sell out. But some of those same people will tell you to get a loan. That is a sellout! See below under “Loans”.
You need to decide what your comfort level is. You can also just have one or two items sponsored. Hey, every little bit helps.
Moonlighting
Moonlighting is basically just getting a second job. If you have the time and some skills this may be a way to get money for your wedding. The only downside is you are usually trading a lot of time for a little money.
Here are a few ideas for thing you can do in your spare time:
*Walk a dog
*Clean houses
*Be a movie extra
*Deliver new vehicles to dealerships
*Be a personal chef
*Be a personal organizer or assistant
*Run errands for people
*Babysit
Saving Up
Saving up requires discipline and time. You could cut out all those lattes and brown bag your lunch everyday for a year. Put the extra cash into a money market account or short term CD. You could also have the money from your paycheck direct deposited automatically into your savings account.
Loans
Don’t do it. Don’t start your marriage in debt or further your current debt to get money for your wedding. You will end up paying way too much for your wedding. There are other ways. Find them. See above. Do things for your wedding yourself. Get help from friends and family. Do anything you can to get money for your wedding except get a loan.
