Your Wedding Reception Ideas Guide
To Saving Big Bucks

Some wedding reception ideas can be extravagant, but super expensive. We've got creative solutions to help you save money on your special day!

Check out these great wedding reception ideas:

Guests..Limit the number of guests you invite. Shave off hundreds to thousands of dollars from your budget, just by keeping a reign on the guest list.

Venue..Have your wedding reception at someone's home, your home, a club, park, museum, fire hall, and even a farm. Farm's make a great venue for a rustic wedding reception!

Book your reception at a hall, hotel ballroom or restaurant. The catering manager can act as a wedding coordinate, saving you big money and time. They can provide services such as cakes, music, and flowers at reasonable prices, and can save you time, which can be more valuable than saving a few bucks!

Food and Drink..Consider a buffet or do-it-yourself. Serve it family style; what better way to unite family and friends, than by sharing food. If you have a favorite take out food, order from your favorite restaurant. See other money saving tips at Wedding Reception Ideas for Food.

A huge expense at the wedding reception can be alcohol. Think about serving a signature drink, or serve only beer, wine and sparkling wine. There are lots of ways to save on cocktails without compromising fun. If you're supplying the alcohol yourself, shop around at shopping clubs like Costco. A lot of online retailers have great prices and selections as well.

For your wedding cake, have a small decorated cake and serve slices. And of course the ever popular cupcake is always a great choice! Make it yourself or enlist a baker in the family.

Decorations..A great way to be thrifty is to make your own favors. One of our favorites is to get M&Ms in your wedding colors, put them in clear bags and tie a ribbon on them. Everyone loves these and you can find you own special colors at

You may even want to try your hand at elegant ice sculptures. We'll show you the secrets to money-saving ideas and how to really impress your guests.

Music..Any musicians in your circle of family and friends? We couldn't think of a better wedding gift! Contact schools or university in your area, many of the students are quite accomplished musicians, and may play for a much less rate than more established, professional musicians. Don't forget that wedding songs reflect the spirit your special day.

Good to know..When comparing the cost of different locations remember rental fee, food, beverages, parking, gratuity, set-up fees and the cost of rentals like tables, chairs, canopies, etc.

If you're looking to save money on your reception, why not think about a wedding sponsor? This can a great way save a ton of money!

Please don't forget..if your reception is outside, have a back-up plan. And make sure to get all of your agreements with vendors in writing!

Remember, wedding reception ideas are all around! And when you're searching for ideas, however extravagant they may seem, get creative. Make it fun, and plan in the style and spirit of your wedding, and your personality!
