You'll NEVER guess where I found my Dream Dress!
This is the work on the bodice!
Since I was a little girl, I always had a picture perfect gown in my mind.
It would be strapless, beaded bodice, with beading on the skirt and train. Full skirt...just classic.
I almost got married when I was young. Too young. I found a dress that was almost what I wanted. Then I realised that the reasons we decided to get married were wrong, so we called it off.
We have a child together and are quite good friends still. More like siblings.
Four years ago, I met and fell in love with the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. We are in no hurry to get married, and I wasn't looking when I found it. I was shopping in this little vintage/thrift shop. Just browsing.
I went to the formal dress section because it's prom season, and I like to get dresses that are in good shape to donate to my local High School for girls that may not be able to afford a nice gown.
When I got over to that area, there was like 6 NEW WITH TAGS! wedding gowns! All these gowns had an original price tag from $500.00 to 1,200.00.
They were stunning. Among those I found her. My Dream Dress. Every detail in my dreas was actualised right in front of me.
The thrift shop tag read $99.00 (original price was over $900.00). Now. I am someone who hates to spend money, but loves a great deal. Every Wednesday, prices are half off. It was Thursday that day. I have NO plans to get married in the immidiate future, so I told myself that if it was still there on Wednesday's half off day, I will buy it (can you beat getting YOUR dream dress for 50 bucks?!).
Surely it would be gone, right? It wasn't.
It is perfect. I'll need to have it taken in. It is a 6, and I am a 4, but all things considered, it is a classic gown, and will always be in fashion, and even after altering, it will STILL be a great bargain!
So. Don't be afraid to shop thrift stores. Goodwill and the Salvation Army are a great place to check. You never know what you'll unearth!
