Money Saving tip

eBay! There are so many great deals on eBay we just canít say enough about it. It is an excellent resource for reasonable gowns, invitations, shoes, tiarasÖjust about anything you need for your wedding. Itís great for finding themed items too. You may have to start hunting early and order early to make sure you get what you want in time for your big day. Also donít forget to check the sellers rating.

Check it out.

New Ideas

Predictions for 2007

1. Mini foods for reception such as shot glasses with food samples, tiny grilled cheese sandwiches, little hot dogs, etc.

2. Classic cocktails such as whiskey sours, screw drivers, Tom Collins, etc.

3. Taffeta wedding gowns that look suspiciously like Toilet Paper Gowns (hmmm).

This month we decided to share this wonderful letter from one of our readers. We hope it inspires your wedding planning!

We were married at the Isle of Palms last month. The wedding was wonderful thanks in part to your fantastic tips and hints. We rented a retreat center for a long weekend for our guests to stay in - relatively cheap and we were all able to stay in the same place, had lounging areas where we could meet and socialize, and everything we needed right there. We invited friends and family down to the beach to stay the weekend with us. Everything was casual but no detail left undone. Welcoming gift baskets were in the rooms with cameras, popcorn for a late night snack, a mini bag of Jordan almonds and a wave bottle with our date and Isle of Palms written on it in paint pen that I made myself. The tables were decorated with white tablecloths borrowed from my church. Twisted wired ribbon was run down the center with tulle bags of shells that we had collected and larger shells along with votive candles were used for decoration. We got potted mums from the grocery store to add height here and there. We used a double wide beach towel for our guest book. A friend embroidered our name and date in the corner. The patio of the center was decorated with tulle and white lights for a late afternoon ceremony. We had a "candy bar": A table with different candies there so everyone could help themselves to a snack whenever they wanted. Just as it began to turn to dusk the ceremony was held. We had appetizers with our champagne before dinner which was prepared by friends who volunteered to take over after the caterer cancelled 2 weeks before the wedding. It was an enormous job but helped out by Sam's Club they did a fantastic job. Afterwards we all walked down to the beach and told ghost stories. The best one was where someone had a flashlight and we passed the flashlight around the circle and each person took a turn telling part of the story. It started at the groom and ended with the bride so the ending was easy. "So the goldfish and the monster fell in love, got married and lived happily ever after". That was our perfect wedding day. And we had a wonderful weekend with so many more fun times and memories to last a lifetime.
