Find wonderful inspiration in craft stores, magazines and on sites like Pinterest, to help you save on wedding flowers!

Like every aspect of your wedding, choosing your wedding flowers takes planning…especially if you want to save money!

Where to start...

  • Determine your budget, colors and theme.
  • Look for flowers that are in season...big money saver!
  • Where's your venue? They may have flowers or plants that you can use.
  • Where do you want to use your flowers? Factor that in to your wedding budget.

Finding flowers...

Use flowers from your own garden. Flowers from farmers markets, wholesale grocery clubs like Sam's Club and Costco, grocery stores, and wholesale florists can offer great deals. Shop online to save! If using a local florist, find one that is willing to work within your budget.

DIY TIPWhen you purchase fresh flowers, cut off about an inch of the stem at an angle under water and put them into a bucket of water until you are ready to arrange them.

Cheap Chic tips...

  • Make your own garlands, pomanders and topiaries.
  • Mix lots of inexpensive flowers with a few large exotic blooms like football mums (as seen in picture) for an impressive arrangement.
  • Decorate with potted plants and potted flowers. This is a great green choice as you can plant later, or give as gifts!
  • Use more greenery than flowers to build up arrangements. Consider also adding elements like twigs, ferns, leaves and evergreen branches.
  • Decorate seating areas using ribbons, bows, or paper cones. Save a little more by skipping every other row/pew when decorating.
  • If you have arches or trellises to decorate, use silk flowers and greenery, secure with plastic cable ties.

Bouquet and Baskets Tips:

  • Choose mini flowers as an inexpensive alternative. Use as a filler, or to stand alone in  bouquets.
  • Have the wedding attendants carry a single gorgeous bloom wrapped in matching ribbon.
  • Make the bridesmaid’s bouquets and flower girl basket to match by color, not flower. Save a lot by choosing less expensive flowers for them.
  • Use nuts, herbs and small fruits. A beautiful and inexpensive addition to any arrangement!
